Sumi making techniques from 100 hundred year ago
Kuretake started marking Japanese sumi ink more than 100 years ago. They apply their sumi ink making techniques to these beautiful watercolour paints. The water-based pigment paint is highly opaque for using as gouache. It can be added water for dilution to create more transparent effects.
Vivid colours and archival-quality for artist and crafters
Wide range of 48 vivid, luminous colours is perfect for creative artists and crafters. Non-toxic water-based pigment conforms to ASTMD 4236 and is lightfast and archival-quality. Some watercolour blocks may show cracking or air bubbles. It is normal due to dryness and will not affect their performance.
Smooth and creamy consistency for blending
As of the high level of opaqueness with creamy consistency, it is suitable for blending techniques with water brushes. We recommend using Kuretake Water brush pens and Pentel Aquash brush pens. They are available in fine, medium and broad nib. Dab one colour with your web brush nib and then dab another colour, one colour by one colour. Mix and blend them together in your palette to create gorgeous blending effects.
