Our story starts from a trip to Japan in 2016, our two co-founders brought back some unique Japanese stationery and quickly realised how difficult it was to find such amazing products in Australia. That experience inspired us to start a venture dedicated to sharing our love of stationery with other stationery enthusiasts.

We began by carefully selecting high-quality Japanese stationery and sourcing them directly from Japan. Bunbougu means “stationery” in Japanese, and we chose it as our name to express our passion for Japanese stationery culture.

In the early days, all our stock was stored in a small drawer. It grew step by step to a bookshelf and then to a garage. We believe that without our supporters and local customers, the small drawer would not be possible to grow into today’s warehouse in Thornbury. Nowadays we have become an Australian leading online stationery store. We proudly stock 5000+ unique products from Japanese and European brands.
