The world's first gel ink pen
The gelly roll gel ink formula was first launched by Sakura in the 1980s. In the late 1970s, several big brands of rollerball manufacturers used a water-based ink and ballpoint pen which used oil-based ink. The Sakura pen corporation first time successfully developed a gel-based ink. Since then, Sakura was recognised as the world's first gel pen.

Since the first gelly roll gel pen was invented over 30 years ago, Sakura Corporation has continued improving its gelly roll ink formula. Nowadays, based on Gelly Roll Classic colours, it has developed 4 new colour series, Gelly Roll Metallic colours, Gelly Roll Stardust colours, Gelly Roll Glaze 3D-Roller colours, and Gelly Roll Moonlight colours.Have some fun with other Sakura pen products
The highly opacity Gelly Roll gel pens can be used for colouring Zentangle artworks with Sakura Pigma Micron Fineliner pens together. As it shows well on dark paper, it can also finish a masterpiece of Zebtangle by itself. Gelly Roll gel pens can also be used together with Sakura Koi Brush Pen to outline your artworks or add some metallic or glittering effects to them.
